Committees
The success of the chapter events and fundraising is due to the hard working committee members. Currently the chapter is working to reinvigorate the chapter experience with new social and philanthropic events throughout the year. Activities Committee
Throughout the year, the Chapter holds various events from the Annual Dinner to yearly Pep Rally. Our committee works with the other committees to plan, execute, and deliver yearly events geared towards bringing Chapter members together to network, mingle, and cheer on the Nittany Lions!
Signature Events Chair Brodie Schultz ‘15 ‘17
Brodie is an engineer for Ford Motor Company in Manufacturing with an MBA and BSME, both from Penn State. In his spare time, you can find him sending it (ya silly) at your local golf course or traveling to watch the Nittany Lions play!
Social Events Chair Andrew Augusty ‘15
Andrew graduated from Penn State in 2015 with a BSME and a minor in History. He hails from Murrysville PA, but moved up to Michigan to work for Ford as a Product Development engineer. Andrew enjoys playing tennis, yard work, and entertaining his dog in his spare time.
Communications Committee
The Communications Committee is responsible for overseeing all chapter email communications, and relaying important information about upcoming events, fundraisers and chapter news.
Chair Caitlyn DeBlaay
Caitlyn is a current student at Penn State World Campus working on a dual major in Labor and Employment Relations as well as Organizational Leadership. She is involved as a student leader in many organizations including the Virtual SHRM Student Chapter, the Blue and White Society and the World Campus Homecoming. Whenever she gets the chance, Caitlyn loves traveling, exploring local eateries and spending time with her family.
Community Service Committee
The community service committee engages in activities to better the local community and support national causes, including participating in THON, food drives, and Toys for Tots
Chair Nick Nace ‘18 ‘20
Nick is an engineer for Ford Motor Company in Product Development. He graduated from Penn State with a BSME in 2018 and an MS in Additive Manufacturing and Design in 2020. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, playing soccer, and printing with his 3D printer.
Finance Committee
Responsible for managing the relations with MAP – the chapter’s investment broker – and engage in discussions regarding future investment strategies. Greed is good!
Chair George Miller ‘58
George graduated from Penn State with a BSME and received his MBA in finance from the University of Detroit. He retired from Chrysler in 1991 after a 33 year career in Product Planning, Finance, and Engineering. He is an outdoor enthusiast and is the investment advisor for the Chapter.
Membership Committee
Committee is responsible for tracking chapter membership. Creating membership benefits and retention.
Chair Cristen Heaton
Cristen majored in Recreation, Park & Tourism Management with an emphasis in event planning and currently works at StockX as a customer service team leader. While she’s not working you can find her hanging out with friends, watching Netflix or playing with her furry goldendoodle Jackson.
Scholarship Committee
The committee works to raise money for scholarship for students from Michigan attending Penn State. We have provided $127,000 to students over the last 17 years.
Chair Gary Wade ‘77
Gary graduated from Penn State with a degree in ME and has been working at Chrysler for over 40 years since. Being on the Michigan Chapter board since 1980, Gary has been the Chapter president since 2012.
Social Media Committee
This committee runs the chapter website and associated social media handles.
Chair Raveen Fernando ‘14 ‘17
Raveen graduated from Penn State with a BS and MS in mechanical engineering. Currently he works as a systems engineer for Ford Motor Company, AV LLC. In his free time you can expect to see him rock climbing or hitting up the local SE Michigan trails with his mountain bike.
